Unitrans operates a fixed-route transit service in Davis, California, serving over 29,000 students at the University of California and 60,000 residents in the community of Davis. The system is almost entirely operated by the students of the University, including the drivers, supervisors and managers. Our fleet of buses includes 6 historic British RT double-deckers and 43 single-deck transit buses. Normal daily ridership is over 20,000 passengers on our 17 routes (during the regular school year), with an annual ridership of greater than 3,500,000 passenger-trips. Buses run from 7:00am to 11:30pm (double-deckers run until 7:00pm) ensuring maximum advertising exposure to the student population and community of Davis. Our routes serve the Downtown area and all major apartment and student living areas, running throughout the entire city.

Advertising space is available on the interior of the single-deck buses and the exterior of the double-deck buses. Available space can be purchased per academic year, with current advertisers having first priority for renewal of their contracts. Any available space will be contracted to potential customers according to the order of a waiting list.

Payment Options

Pre-Pay:
Pay the full cost of the advertising contract before the signs are placed on the buses.
**Please not that any political advertisements must be paid in full before advertising begins.

Quarterly Installments:
If you choose to purchase advertising space for the academic year, and if you are an approved ASUCD Credit Customer, you may opt to be billed in three quarterly installments. Each payment must be received two to three working days before the beginning of each quarter. If you would like to fill out an application please call us and we will gladly send you one. Please allow 4-6 weeks for credit approval from the ASUCD Business Office. You will receive your first bill before the first quarter of your contract. If you have previously filled out an application call us to confirm that your approval is current.

WARNING:

IF PAYMENTS AND/OR SIGNS ARE NOT RECEIVED ON TIME, YOUR SPACE WILL BE SOLD TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER.

There is a $100 charge for switching ANY signs at any point during the length of the advertising contract. This fee can be paid with the initial payment or any other time before the signs are switched. There is no charge for replacing stolen or damaged signs.

Subletting:
Any customer who decides to sublet his or her advertising space is responsible for informing the subletter about the terms of the Unitrans Advertising Contract to ensure proper adherence to the Unitrans Advertising Guidelines. Any subletting customer will act as a liaison between the Unitrans Advertising Sales Representative and the subletter.

A note on political advertisements, especially through the subletting of sign contracts:
ALL political advertisements MUST have "A Paid Political Advertisement" printed on the sign in the lower right corner, spaced three inches above the bottom and three inches from the side margins. Lettering must be no smaller than 2 inches in height, printing in a contrasting color to the sign's basecoat.

Interior Bus Advertising Rates

Single-decks (43 buses)
A full package consists of 82 spaces (two per single-deck bus), and a half package consists of 41 spaces.
FULL Interior Sign Package per Academic Year: $1250
HALF Interior Sign Package per Academic Year: $675

40-foot single-decks ONLY (34 buses)
A full package consists of 68 spaces (two per single-deck bus), and a half package consists of 34 spaces.
FULL Interior 40-ft Sign Package per Academic Year: $930
HALF Interior 40-ft Sign Package per Academic Year: $505

Exterior Advertising Rates

Double-Deckers ONLY (three buses in regular service)
Exterior Sign Package for one Academic Year: $1250*
*Since Unitrans has no control of double deck buses that may be taken out of service during the year, exterior sign spaces are sold in groups of three to ensure maximum exposure.
