    Spring Quarter - More J & W Line Afternoon Service + the new Z-Express + Picnic Day Service!

    PICNIC DAY SERVICE

    On Picnic Day, Saturday. April 20, Unitrans will operate expanded weekend service with some route changes. All regular fares apply, and all Unitrans passes are accepted. Schedules are available online by selecting your route and selecting "Picnic Day Only 4/20" for the "Term". For a downloadable Unitrans Picnic Day guide + map, click here

     

    Frequency By Line

    • 2x per hour: M, O, P, Q
    • 4x per hour: G & K
    • 6x per hour: V (to/from Silo)

     

    Detours/Route Changes

    • M Line will be detoured from 8:00am until approximately 1:00pm due to road closures in downtown. Only 5th/D, 5th/G, 5th/I, Cowell/Valdora Inbound, Cowell/Drew Inbound, Cowell/Research Park Inbound, Research Park/Cowell, and Cowell/Halsey bus stops will be served during detour.
    • O Line operates via Fifth Street all day due to road closures in downtown. No direct service on B Street, Second Street, to Amtrak, or on Russell/A Street outbound. Use 5th/D, 5th/G, and 5th/I bus stops for downtown.
    • V Line operates to/from the Silo Terminal all day.

     

    SPRING QUARTER UPDATES

    Just in time for Spring Quarter, Unitrans is adding service on the J & W lines! Starting April 1, the J & W lines will operate every 20 minutes between 12:10 PM and 6:00 PM to help alleviate afternoon crowding and get you to/from campus more conveniently! A new Silo departure is added at 0:50 minutes after the hour on both lines. There are no changes to any other bus schedules or trips.

     

    In addition, a new morning Z Express bus will start operating when drivers are available. The new Z Express bus will pick up customers at 5th Street at Cantrill/Greystone Apartments (#072) and provide non-stop service to UC Davis campus on Monday-Thursday. When drivers are available, this express bus will depart promptly from stop #072 at 7:21 AM (Mon.-Thurs.), 8:21 AM (Mon.-Thurs.), 9:26 AM (Mon. & Wed.) and 9:56 AM (Tues. & Thurs.). The regular Z line bus will continue to serve 5th Street at Cantrill/Greystone Apartments (#072) as scheduled and provide service to all scheduled stops.

    Fare & Service Change Proposals for 2024-2025 Academic Year

    Unitrans service change proposals for the 2024-2025 academic year focus on restoring pre-pandemic service levels and improving customer convenience. Unitrans will restore service frequencies to pre-pandemic levels as a top priority as driver staffng improves. Unitrans and Davis Community Transit also propose increasing fares.     Fare Change Proposal: Unitrans and Davis Community Transit propose increasing the cash fare and pass prices. The Unitrans cash fare would be increased from $1.25 to $1.50 and the Davis Community Transit cash fare from $2.50 to $3.00 starting Monday, August 5, 2024. Unitrans pass prices would increase over two years. Unitrans and Davis Community Transit have not increased fares since 2018. Youth 18 and under, people 60 and older, and people with disabilities will continue to ride Unitrans fare-free with a valid free Unitrans pass.

    Farmers Market Shuttle Pilot Program: Starting fall quarter 2024, Unitrans proposes relaunching the Farmers Market Shuttle between the Memorial Union Terminal and Downtown on all Saturdays during the

    academic year. The shuttle will be fare-free and operate with a vintage London double decker bus every 30 minutes from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The pilot program will be evaluated in June 2025 to determine if the service should continue. Click here for map.

     

    Memorial Union Night Service Improvements: To provide 30 minute service to/from campus to the Fifth Street corridor after 8:10 PM on weekdays during the academic year, Unitrans proposes changing the A line departure times from the Memorial Union Terminal from 9:10 PM and 10:10 PM to 8:40 PM and 9:40 PM. Combined with the Z line schedule, the proposed change will result in campus arrivals & departures on the A & Z lines at 8:10 PM, 8:40 PM, 9:10 PM, 9:40 PM, and 10:10 PM.
    Unitrans also proposes extending K & M service past 8:10 PM on Monday-Thursday. Added trips would be at: 8:35 PM (K), 9:10 PM (M), 9:35 PM (K), and 10:10 PM (M). The D & W lines would also continue to operate night service to/from the Silo Terminal as they do today with no changes.

     

    O Line Bus Stop Addition: On Pole Line Road southbound near Cambridge House Apartments, Unitrans proposes adding an O line bus stop to improve access for customers in the area.

     

    Frequency Restorations: Unitrans will continue increasing frequencies from today’s levels as staffng improves. Unitrans will prioritize frequency improvements based on two factors: 1) Restoring 30 minute service to all routes and 2) Increasing frequencies based on crowding.

    • A Line: Up to every 30 minutes
    • G Line: Up to every 15 minutes
    • J Line: Up to every 20 minutes
    • V-EX & V-LT Lines: Up to every 15 minutes each
    • W Line: Up to every 20 minutes

    Bus terminal outreach will be conducted on Monday, April 8 from 2-4pm at the MU Terminal, Thursday, April 11 from 10am-12pm at the MU Terminal, Monday, April 15 from 2-4pm at the Silo Terminal, and Thursday, April 18 from 10am-12pm at the Silo Terminal.

    The Unitrans Advisory Committee will hold a public hearing to review the service change proposals, review and hear feedback, and vote on the proposals on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 4:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A Street, Davis, CA 95616. Details on the public hearing will be posted at this link within 72 hours of the meeting. Approved changes would go into effect on Monday, August 5, 2024.

    T Line Morning Schedule Reverts to Original Schedule on Monday, January 8

    Attention T line riders and parents! The T line is reverting back to its original 2023-24 school year schedule on Monday, January 8, 2024 as construction has ended on major roadways across Davis.

     

    Please contact our office at 530-752-2877 or unitrans@ucdavis.edu with questions. Harper Junior High students should consider the special morning P-Harper bus as an alternative to the T line for more convenient morning arrivals at Harper Junior High School.

    Up to two children under the age of five ride free per one fare paying adult. Exact fare only. Drivers carry no change. No refunds.

    By showing current student identification card. Without student ID, fare is $1.25. No photocopies or digital images, including OASIS, accepted because drivers cannot determine their validity.

     

    A valid undergraduate UC Davis ID also entitles the holder to unlimited access on YoloBus.
